Guttate Psoriasis
With guttate psoriasis you mean a variant of psoriasis that comes in small dots, that for a unxeperienced doctor is not always associated with psoriasis. Guttate means drop, and is a descriptive term on the rashes which are like big drops of water on the skin. Rashes, like in plaque psoriasis, have a clear red color and a sharp boundary between healthy and sick skin. By contrast, the rashes are more consistent confetti-sized, often lacks the typical scales and usually sits on a large part of the body, and not in the typical locations as the scalp, elbows and knees. It is also common with rashes on the face, which is otherwise uncommon with psoriasis. It seems that it is a bacterial infection that sparks the body’s immune system and that causes the onset of guttate psoriasis. The bacterial infection activates certain blood cells in the body, called T-lymphocytes, which are behind the attack on the skin and the appearance of skin changes. Even if you suffer many small rashes over large parts of the body, guttate psoriasis is often considered to be easily treated. It means that the disease can heal as long as you get treatment for your infection. If this shouldn’t be enough, you can use creams locally, or possibly try light treatment.
